In this article, the quality of the resource drinking water of 2008 and 2009 Xicun water plant in Guangzhou was monitored. The actualities of water quality for the Liuxi River of West channel were discussed. Experimental results showed that the contamination of raw water is much serious, among which, the quality index CODMn, was under the nationalâ…¡level of surface water, the ammonium nitrogen and dissolved oxygen data were even underâ…¤level. These facts made the water hard to treat and the dosages of coagulants difficult to apply.According to the new standard GB5749-2006, the water plant established strict internal criterion with the purpose of meeting the water supply standard and ensuring the piping water safe to drink. To carry out these desire, water treatment were more difficult. In order to optimize the dosages of coagulants and other oxidants, tar tests were used to simulate actual production process. Coagulation experiments includes high water period and low water period respectively. The results appealed that, the suitable dosage in high water period were:coagulant 120 mg/L/ powdered activated carbon 5 mg/L/potassium permanganate 0.9 mg/L/NaOH 4mg/L, and PAM 0.03mg/L. While, the suitable dosage in low water period were:coagulant 360 mg/L/powdered activated carbon 5 mg/L/potassium permanganate 1.2 mg/L/NaOH 0mg/L, and PAM 0.05mg/L.
