From the view of Arcology, the Spontaneous development of traditional dwellings is the result of interaction between residents, dwellings, social and nature. However today some problems have shown up that the dwellings not only failed to fit the need of residents nowadays but also caused some destroy to the Environment. That is because of the disorder and blindness of Spontaneous development. For these reasons, this paper proposes a way of "Ecological development" for traditional dwelling. Ecological development is a new kind of developing model focus on the coordination between the four elements of residents, dwellings, social and nature. To realize it, these steps should be followed:Find the relation and interaction between those four elements; After that, Analyze the variation of Spontaneous development; Then Find crux of the problems caused by it; Evaluate the advantage and disadvantage of it. In conclusion, this research can be divided into four categories:The relation and interaction between completed village and dwelling development; The relation and interaction between social and dwelling development; The relation and interaction between nature and dwelling development; the comparison and contrast between Spontaneous and Ecological development.Firstly, the relation between completed village and dwelling development is Dynamic mutual adaptation. This kind of interaction makes the construction experience and regional culture inherited and developed along the time, As well as advances the integration of structural culture between different regions.Secondly, the relation between social vicissitude and dwelling development is also dynamic mutual adaptation. This kind of interaction makes residents accept tolerantly the influence of social vicissitude, Then affect the construction by the mean of Falsification. After that, experienced structural language would be consummated to adapt the social environment in a special period. However, today the effective factors changing and the social develops in such a rapid way that it's hard to catch up for traditional dwelling development.
