The isolation technology is an effective, economic, and readily available technology and a new system for earthquake resistance. Experiences have shown that earthquakes at home and abroad:using isolation technology, set the isolation layer between the upper structure and the foundation can make the housing structure and its internal facilities, or revenue from the earth-quake.The layer structure is on the base of base isolated structures developed in the engineer-ing practice for a new type of isolation damping system. At present the isolation of existing national technical specifications, the isolated structures only to the rules of body structure, and provides basic isolation layer is set in the basic top or the bottom of the basement. However, in practical engineering application, because of terrain condit-ions and the need for the use of architectural features would require a breakthrough this limitation, isolation unit set up in the middle layer, forming a new type of layer spacing shock damping system. Layer spacing in the damping mechanism of shock damping system, vibration characteristics and design methods, and so on, are all different from the base-isolations, especially for conventional seismic design methods are difficult to resolve, while not suitable for the use of base-isolated structures. For mid-story seismic isolation and reduction structure system, according to the characteristic of structure, in general, islation layer is set in the part where the structure's vertical stiffness is sudden changed. It can be set on the top of the first layer, middle layer, conversion layer of the structure, and so on. Laminated rubber bearings can be adopted. This paper first introduced the vibration isolation structures based on the working mechanism and the current level of the research of isolation structure, through the layer of isolation structure of the model analysis, the story isolation dynamical model of the structure, and thus the damping mechanism were analyzed. And then as the model of a nine-story frame structure with a large podium, and using the finite element analysis software SAP2000, its time-history analysis for earthquake response, according to theoretical results, summarized a systemic abrupt vertical rigidity story isolated simplified design method.
