With the rapid development of automobile industry, the technology of computer's simulations have got wide range of application in automotive designing area with magnificent improvement of design standard and efficiency. The simulation method which combine finite elements analysis with modern mathematical theory of optimization, as one of important way in automotive designing process, make it possible to simulate the performance and working environment of vehicle before the manufacture of true prototype avoiding the design-trial-manufacturing-innovation-retrial repetitive cycle process in traditional designing project. Using this kind of method make the products more competitive in market by reducing the designing period as well as human and materials resource and financial consumption simultaneously. Research of the application of finite elements methods and optimal design relating to certain vehicle cab has been investigated in this paper.At the beginning of t dissertation, The finite modal of truck body has been elaborately instructed together with the process of geometry cleanup, screen drawing, welding points simulation etc process. The next part is the depiction of modal analysis and static analysis of truck-body. As a result, the possibility of sympathetic vibration between vehicle-cab and engine in idle working condition may happen. So measures must be took to prevent resonation phenomenon by improvement of first-stage modal frequency.In chapter four, the author dwells on the theory and methods of optimization design and use size optimization to promote the body's stage modal frequency by nearly 2Hz with no mass added. Afterwards, on the base of size optimization, the body's frequency was been evaluated to a higher platform by topology and topography technology taking cab-roof as the optimal object.In the project, the series code of Altair company of America were used as designing platform, the sub-program of HyperMesh, RADIOSS, OptiStruct and HyperView in finite analysis and optimal design were introduced briefly in the dissertation.
