| Residential landscape environment design is an important element in living community. It is closely related to the living quality of local residents and, to some extend, it influences their behavior and psychology as well. People's requirement towards housing standards and landscape environment is changing in accordance with the rapid development of urban construction. A preferable living community nowadays should be in artistic architectural form equipped with convenient service facilities; in addition, it should be able to provide relaxing and pleasant living environment. Therefore, how to create a people oriented community environment is now an urgent issue needs to be solved.Guided by humanity needs and ecological landscape design theory, the article analyzes several domestic residential community cases and makes an indepth study on landscape design techniques. Firstly, it explains the course of China's real estate market development and the social background, analyzes the mode of habitation old and new, and points out the disadvantages of modern residential community. Secondly, through studying the animality, sociality and behavior characteristics of human being, the article put forward various behavioral requirements of people, and offered several people-oriented proposals on landscape design after analyzing various landscape elements, design methods and the best venue of facility setting in residential area. Finally, it investigates two typical residential community cases in Wuhan; high lights its advanced user-friendly design concept and points out its user-unfriendly disadvantages as well.The article based on the ecological landscape theory, focuses on the needs of human being, and integrates the theory with several examples to explore the relationship between landscape design and people's life. The major purpose of this is to improve the living environment for the residents.
