A method of fault location based on pulse signal injection has been promoted in this paper, which is not only independent of the following factors, such as system operating mode, topology, neutral grounding and random fault, but also the site of signal injection, the width and period of pulse are flexible and adjustable. The fault branch is determined via detecting in each branch with detector, on the basis of different alarm indicator which branch is in the fault path and the fault point direction are known, detecting along the fault path the fault point is located very quickly with dichotomy. This method is easy for operation, the fault location time will be shortened and the fault location efficiency enhanced. In this paper the design scheme of software and hardware for signal source is proposed, high-pressure pulse generator is carried out by adopting C8051F310 MCU, and signal detector is designed based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. Through technological analysis and experiments on analog lines in lab verify the correctness and feasibility of the proposed location method.
