The paper uses WuHai power plant 200MW generator excitation system's replacement and transformation as an example, designs a new Static Excitation system. With the opportunity of machine halt for maintenance, the newly-designed system was put into use after installation and debugging. Result of the actual running condition shows that this excitation system is advanced in technology, effective in Exceeding Current, highly reliable and intelligent. To improve reliability of excitation system, intelligent detecting, diagnosing and localization is introduced to excitation system power circuit. This paper describes design ,composition and function of excitation system composed of intelligent power rectifier cabinet. Digital current balance method is present. The results of digital current balance test on the spot is provided.
