The main content contains the Chinese code for seismic design of buildings (GB50011-2002) and American code: IBC2000,ACI318-05. Some content gets reference from Load code for the design of building structures, the Chinese Code for design of concrete structures(GB50010-2002), the technical specification for concrete structures of tall building (JGJ 3-2002) and the American seismic provision of NEHRP 1997, etc. The content covers the bearing capacity calculation of flexural member and compression member. In the last, it puts forward suggestions for improvement.Calculating the internal forces of bending members, the two countries adopt a different standard formula, and obtain the analysis and comparison of the rectangular cross-section, T-shaped cross section, reinforcement ratio limits, the minimum reinforcement ratio, maximum ratio of reinforcement and so on. For further details, the analysis and comparison of Sino-US norms of the internal forces of the eccentric compression formula are achieved. There are significant differences between the Sino-US specification, from a comprehensive introduction by the IBC2000. Finally, depending on examples of specific works, we can calculate two kinds of norms in the size of the seismic forces, components of the reinforcement differences and behavior, etc.Some conclusions are drawn: the internal forces are approximately equal in the designated field area; the United States pays more attention to the ductility and bearing capacity of co-ordination; under rare earthquake, the structures meet the seismic requirements.
