The electric contact failure, most of which are caused by dust particles in the atmosphere, widely exists in electric equipments nowadays. A research on connectors in the failed communication terminals shows that over 65 percents of all the contact surfaces are polluted by dust particles, and nearly 50 percents have dust accumulations. During the operation of connectors, dust particles in the atmosphere can be brought to the contact interfaces, and contact reliability problems may appear. So it is very important and necessary for us to research the influence of dust on electric contact.Device must be needed for experiment and observation in order to research the influence of dust in electric contact testing. In this thesis, for the requirement of observing dust and mini-size contact interfaces in the process of researching the influence of dust on electromechanical Components, a video microscope system is designed. The system integrated mechanism, electron and computer technology into traditional microscope. We propose the main design principles and frame, and introduce design proposal technical route and implement of system.In this thesis, the research introduces optics, image acquisition, image transmission, mechanism and illumination. The optical part is the foundation of the system, while the quality of optical image directly affects performance of system. In the basis of introducing the standard of microscope, we design a kind of light path which can use CCD camera to observe. Furthermore, we determine the integral structure and calculate individual parameters according to designing. The first step of the image acquisition system is sending the optical image captured by the lens of optical microscope to CCD camera. The second step is the camera transforms analog video signal to digital video signal. Finally, the digital video signal is sent to computer by USB. The paper presents the design and selection of the mechanical parts for the system, such as pedestal, column, arm and absorbers. The illumination part can help system to acquire better image. At last, the research contents and conclusions of this dissertation are summarized and its further studies are forecasted.This system is significant for the development of other analogous system.
