Permanent magnet brushless DC motor (BLDC) has been popularly used in drive area. Compared with other drive motor, permanent magnet synchronous motor has high efficiency, high power density and good control characteristics. So it has received general attention and is increasingly used in drive device. In recently years, with the developing and application of nc machine, industrial robot, manipulator, computer and peripheral equipment and servo drive motor has been needed to have higher performance and thin structure. Now, axial magnetic BLDC is developing quickly at home and broad. As a kind of high performance servo motor and directly driving motor with big torque, axial magnetic field BLDC has been popularly used in electromechanical integration products and began to substitute for traditional servo motor.The electromagnetic field design and controller design of axial magnetic BLDC are studied in this paper. Firstly, the design method of axial magnetic BLDC is introduced to design the motor using the method of field-circuit and analysis the electromagnetic field using Ansoft software. Further, the effect on the magnetic of axial magnetic BLDC is analyzed when the various parameters are changed, and prototype is optimized and trial-manufactured. Secondly, the hardware of axial magnetic BLDC controller and the hardware circuit of axial magnetic BLDC controller are designed based on C8051F310 MCU and intelligent power module. The bootstrap circuit and the over-current protection circuit of IPM, the power up snubber circuit and the drive snubber circuit are introduced in detailed. The correctness of the circuit is verified by the experimental data and waveform. Finally, the software of the axial magnetic BLDC controller is introduced. The PID regulator, software filter and electric braking is mainly introduced. The driving system is debugged based on software and hardware designing. The preliminary experimental results are obtained, which lay a good foundation for the subsequent research and development work.
