Reinforced concrete frame structure is widely used in the building structure, and a large number of experimental studies and theoretical analysis on the seismic performance have been carried out. A large number of seismic hazard shows that the collapse-resistant capacity of the frame structure mainly depends on the columns'design, especially with the structural height and span increasing, the column must bear larger load. Not only high carrying capacity but also good ductility and energy dissipating capacity are required on the columns. With the development of computer technology and the study on the concrete constitutive relation, the method of numerical simulation analysis for reinforced concrete structure has been developed rapidly. The structural internal force, deformation of the entire process, the formation of cracks and the process of structural damage can be obtained by using that method. The limit carrying capacity of the structure and reliability assessment can also be conducted. The weaknesses position in the structure can be revealed when the optimization is needed in the design. At the same time,it widely applicable to a variety of structural types and different stress conditions.Through cyclic loading tests of four half-scaled RC frame columns, the paper mainly studied the seismic performance of RC frame cblumns. To fully understand the seismic performance of structural column, experimental tests and theoretical analyses are conducted, covering some important issues on frame columns force resistance performance,i.e.,damage form and hysteretic characteristics, skeleton curve, ductility, energy dissipating capacity and stiffness degradation under seismic load. Study on the influence of different axial compression force ratios on seismic performance of RC frame columns provides consolidated experimental and theoretical basis for seismic analysis and design of such structural frame components. Then, the numerical simulation of the structures with the non-linearity finity element software ADINA is carried out to compare with the result of the experiment, and the influence of behaviors of RC frame columns because of different axial compression force ratios is also studied. The nonlinearity problems of the reinforced concrete is simulated sueeessfully. Finally, some problems about the nonlinear area of the reinforced conerete are discussed. The achievement has certain reference value in the structure design area of the reinforced concrete,in this thesis.
