The power quality could be polluted by the massive use of power electronic devices.The huge economic loss of the society is created by a variety of failures and accidents caused by harmonics. The harmonic suppression and reaction power compensation could be effectively provided by hybrid active power filter. Hybrid active power filter unified the advantages of both passive power filter and active power filter, it can be applied in the large capacity situation and enable the system to have the good performance. HAPF research is given more and more concern and attention in the aspect of power quality comprehensive governance in recent years.This paper is mainly to do theoretical research, the optimization algorithm and control strategy of the HAPF system are the key point of the research.Firstly, the HAPF principle of work and several kind of topology and characteristic is introduced in this paper. The harmonic current detection method based on instantaneous reactive power theory is researched in detail.It was carried out simulation experiments and the experimental result proved the correctness of the theory.Regarding the HAPF system, the parameter match as well as passive and active capacity's rational distribution is the difficult question, Therefore this paper discussed the multi-objective optimization algorithm. The characteristics of particle swarm optimization algorithm are analyzed in this paper. In view of a flaw of particle swarm optimization algorithm is easy to fall into the local extremum, the improved methods which quantum gate angle of rotation has been introduced in was proposed.And the improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is applied for the first time in the HAPF system. it calculated the parameter of passive power filter and the capacity ratio of the active part occupied. This algorithm makes the system has good filtering effect and economy, but also proved that the algorithm is compared with the genetic algorithm has higher efficiency, and can prevent premature convergence.Several kinds of control strategies of HAPF are described. The control strategies based on detection of the load harmonic currents and of the power harmonic currents has been carried on the key research. Traditional research approach is the waveform simulation. According to the quality of the output waveform to judge the pros and cons of the control strategy, but the method is not enough detailed and comprehensive inspection.In order to avoid this shortcoming,one unique method used to realize the operational factor analysis of the two control strategies in this paper. This method simplifies the equivalent circuit first, then carries on the programming. The affected extent of control strategy in a certain factors could been inspected intuitively and specifically through the method.The analysis result has proven two kind of strategies have the feasibility in the topic, more provided the important reference for chosing control policy and the controller parameter to suit specifically the actual situation.According to the theoretical research and experimental analysis in the paper, a hybrid active power filter prototype is designed for experimental research. The feasibility and accuracy of some methods and strategies was assessed and verified on the prototype .These methods and strategies include: the detection method based on instantaneous reactive power theory, the improved particle swarm optimization algorithm,and the control strategies based on detection of the power harmonic currents and so on.
