With the rapid development of science and technology, it is more and more urgent to meet the need of solid-liquid pump for transportation flow of materials with high pressure, temperature and corrosion. Diaphragm pump of the oscillating piston (hereafter referred to as the diaphragm pump) is a kind of ideal oscillating material pump which combines the advantage of sturdy and durable utility of the piston pump and pressure pump, overcomes the shortcoming of easy wearing and tearing of the seal in the piston pump, It has simple structure and possesses the ability to deliver slurry, paste or fluid with high viscosity, chemical and mechanical erosion effectively and reliably. Thus it is widely used in sludge transmission in such areas as mining, metallurgy sintering tailing and waste water treatment; high-lift transportation of liquid-solid materials with high abrasive slurry in electrical, chemical and building industries.Virtual prototyping technology, known as dynamic simulation technology of mechanical system, came out in 1980s with the rapid development of computer technology. The core is kinematics and dynamics simulation of mechanical system. It also includes 3D CAD modeling technology, finite element analysis technology, electro-hydraulic control technology and optimization technology, and other related technologies. Virtual prototyping technology is applied to the design of the diaphragm pump, and it will have practical significance in optimizing product design.The research object of this paper is the oscillating piston diaphragm pump DGMB which is produced in Shenyang metallurgy Co. Ltd. We analyze the structure characteristics of the crankshaft and connecting rod etc. in the diaphragm pump, use SolidWorks to set up the three-dimension virtual model of every part of the diaphragm pump and assemble the virtual model wholly, and use ANSYS to complete finite element analysis of the crankshaft. On the basis of the virtual prototype of the diaphragm pump, we use ADAMS to carry on dynamic simulation.This paper mainly contains the following parts:firstly, analyze the structure of diaphragm pumps, introduce its working principles and work out ways to raise the speed of diaphragm pump in theory; secondly, carry on finite element analysis of crankshaft and find information about its risky section and modal; lastly, establish 3D virtual models of the diaphragm pump parts and work out the overall assembly model. Then set up the virtual prototype of diaphragm pump, implement its dynamic simulation, and analyze the motion and force. To conclude, compare the data with those under practical conditions.
