Following the design of National Indoor Stadium debut, the bird-nest-patterned structure was first proposed. Bird's Nest-type structure is a new structure that mainly be used for large-span spatial structures. The current research is still rare and limited to grid structure and cable-dome structure, but the performances of other structural forms of research are unknown. Therefore, in-depth research and the improvement of the theory on this structure is particularly urgent. In this paper, the mechanical properties of bird-nest-patterned cable-net structure is going to be analyzed and researched.At present, the study of bird-nest-patterned includes grid structure and cable-dome structure, and the bird-nest-patterned cable-net structure is first proposed. Comparing and analyzing the five aspects, such as force, steel consumption, effective space ratio, building aesthetics and construction methods, compared, analyzed and optimized these three structures, the results show that cable-net structure is an optimum form of the bird-nest-patterned structure. The circular bird-nest-patterned cable-net structure consists of some identical trusses cable, so supports the use of outer bearing points and two points of each cable between the outer ring corresponds to the number of polygons to describe the different cable network shape. Comparison results of cable net shape, six valuable kinds of cable-net forms is provedWhen analyzes the static characteristics of bird-nest-patterned cable-net structure, the analytical method and the continuous membrane theory is adopted to analyze force, the equilibrium equations is establishd to solve internal force and deflection. In order to achieve correctness of structural calculation, using the ANSYS finite element software for numerical calculation of the structure, results in good agreement with analytical results.The free vibration characteristics of bird-nest-patterned cable-net structure is analyzed to solve free vibration frequencies and modes. There are two main methods is used, namely, the analytical calculation based on energy methods and the numerical methods based on the ANSYS software. The results show that the distribution of free vibrations frequency, mode shapes and the impact of various factors on the dynamic performance of bird-nest-patterned structure. While different vibration characteristics of BN24-5 type to BN24-10 type cable-net structure are compared and analyzed to provide a basis for a optimal selection about such structure.Finally, some conclusions are summarized and the topic for further research are put forward. All the work on the bird-nest-patterned cable-net structure in this dissertation, will help raise awareness on the mechanical characteristics, improve and use this new structure, with important academic significance and practical value.
