With the continuous deepening of reform and opening up and rapid development of the national economy, especially development of coastal region and port consstruction, land resources becomes increasingly rare and more and more projects of artificial island and circling sea reclamation are built. The method of blow filling reclamation has obvious advantages to method of mountain cutting sea filling or mixed sundry soil sea filling in terms of cost saving and shortening work period. Constraint factors in the progress of blow filling reclamation is blow filling and foundation treatment. The refilling soil in blow filling reclamation can not meet with the large load requirement of port superstructures. Currently the preferred method of refilling soft clay soil foundation treatment is vacuum preloading metnod. The vacuum preloading method belongs to drainage consolidation method, which has obvious advantage in work period and cost saving contrast to composite foundation consolidation method. This paper first describes the development process, theoretical research status and the impact on the surrounding environment of the vacuum preloading method, and makes comparison with the piling up preloading method. Second, through the example of Tianjin Port Ro-Ro Terminal soft foundation consolidation project, this paper gives a detailed analysis of the vacuum preloading construction technology, gives a description to all aspects and steps of the construction, and explains the key elements of quality control in the work process. Finally, according to past experience in engineering and the development of equipment and materials, this paper gives improving method to the vacuum preloading construction technology and equipment.
