The rapid growth of traffic demand due to the fast development of national economy causes growing serious traffic problems in china. The contradiction between the increase of traffic and existing road condition is getting worse, it shows as following:the road traffic congestion, the traffic disorder, the soaring traffic accidents and very serious environmental pollution cause by traffic, especially for the traffic accidents. The traffic accidents cut down the expressway traffic capacity, generate traffic congestion, delay the traffic and even lead to the casualties and property loss. From the angle of traffic accidents management, the thesis has investigated the traffic capacity and improvement measures under expressway traffic accidents, which will be the theory evidence for traffic organization and traffic accident management, which will be ensure the expressway run safely and smoothly.From this breakthrough point. On the basis of induction and summary of both domestic and foreign research situation on traffic capacity, firstly, the thesis investigates the influential factor of traffic capacity under expressway accidents and analyses accidents duration time with tree models. Secondly, the thesis sets up capacity model for expressway under accidents,which provides theoretical foundation for studying how to improve expressway capacity under accidents and establishes the basis for offering the capacity improvement measures.According to the impact scope of traffic accident, the impacting expressway is classified into direct influential section and indirect influential section.the thesis puts forward steps to improve capacity under special weather conditions, basic sections and special sections of expressway. The direct influential section aims at traffic safety, while indirect influential section emphasizes on traffic smooth. The information of these two parts complement and coordinate each other in order to control the impact of traffic accidents and expand capacity.Lastly, improvement measures are simulated through parameter examination and secondary development technology to the simulation software, thus the effects of improvement measures are checked out by the simulation and the theory of this thesis.
