The wind turbine generating system is a multi-body system incorporating with rigidity and flexibility. Its complicated dynamic characteristics originate from its complex load characteristics, interaction and coupling from various flexible components, interconnection and interaction between rigid and flex components as well as interrelationship of electrical system and mechanical system. The subject investigated is the double-fed high-speed asynchronous wind turbine, power for 1.5 MW. Its unique dynamic characteristics are to be proved simultaneously from theory, calculation and testing. By theoretical analysis, the dynamic model of wind turbine is established, which allows elaborated analysis on load sources. Vibration and its influence under complicated load effect are studied. Wind turbine modeling and load calculation is done with Bladed software. The models of tower, rotor blades and overall wind turbine are established and further analyzed through ADAMS to obtain the first order modal for the wind turbine by proceeding researches on the single component modes and the overall wind turbine coupling modes, during which the inherent characteristics of the wind turbine is thoroughly understood. A comparison of the results is obtained by Campbell chart and modal analysis by Bladed. Testing procedures concerning the wind turbine vibration is set up; on site testing data further studied by domain analysis both amplitude and frequency to investigate operational properties. Complication of the wind turbine dynamic characteristics is revealed during its operation process.
