The calculation of active earth pressure against retaining wall is one of the basic research subjects in the civil engineering, especially for the flexible retaining wall, it even do not have recognized and mature earth pressure calculation method, that has become a big problem in engineering.Using PLAXIS program, the paper analyses the engineering characters of geocell flexible retaining wall, a kind of new style retaining wall which made of Geocell, research the general features of deformation and stress for geocell flexible retaining wall, discuss the influence of some factors such as wall width, loading, wall body modulus and geocell-reinforced. On this basis, flake unit method, strain increment ratio and the asymptotic state criterion of anisotropy sand is introduced into the active earth pressure calculating of R-shape and RTT-shape behind flexible retaining wall, and propose the theoretical calculation method. Then combined with the engineering example of geocell flexible retaining wall, this paper check the theoretical calculation method through the measurement and numerical simulation of the active earth pressure behind flexible retaining wall.
