Comparing with Portland cement concrete pavement, the exposed-aggregate cement concrete pavement (EACCP) functional in low noise, high skid resistance, and has a wide application prospect. The features on the surface of EACCP are usually characterized by exposed-aggregate depth and exposed-aggregate degree. The conclusions are also inaccuracy by artificial subjectivity. So a method is proposed based on digital image processing to solve the problem that evaluation particle size distribution on the surface of EACCP, and contributes to complete evaluation indexes of EACCP.Firstly, the paper used digital image technology to obtain images of EACCP and dealt with images; then the shapes of exposed-aggregates were obtained based on particle morphological feature and the areas and diameters of exposed-aggregates were calculated; finally correlation-coefficient and area coefficient of variation are used to evaluate particle size distribution of exposed-aggregates. The result shows that the closed degree of particle size distribution is reflected by the correlation-coefficient based on the two images. The average of particle size distribution is reflected by the coefficient of variation based on the images.Then the paper researched on skid resistance and noise of EACCP with different particle distributions based on digital image processing technology, and correlating with structure, exposed-aggregate structure, exposed-aggregate degree and exposed-aggregate area. And exposed-aggregate number is proposed to evaluate skid resistance of EACCP.
