With the rapid development of economy in our country, people's living standards have improved steadily, China's energy consumption significantly increased. The contradiction between resources and environment constraints and rapid economic growth has become China's future economic and social development challenges. Therefore, considering our country's immediate and long-term interest, we must construct a resource-saving and environment-friendly society. As for the coal-based electrical industry, energy saving is particular important.But, because of emphasizing power generation, despising power supplying and neglecting importance and particularity of distribution network for a long period in our country, our distribution network systems lack base and have great loss. 10kV distribution network is the largest scale and widest area involving of power network in our country, and the terminal connect with users, which can response to power security, quality, economic of uses. 10kV distribution network has become final embodiment of power supply capability, reliability, power quality in power system. But, 10kV distribution network has many problems, such as the weak structure of distribution network of power system, the ageing equipments, lack of reactive power compensation, and network operation and management getting behind. The loss of 10kV distribution network is more than the word's major industrial counties, and China's energy-saving and loss-decreasing of 10kV distribution network is promising.This paper will realized saving energy and decreasing loss of distribution network from two major aspects. On the one hand, transformer is the main equipment in production process in power system. The process of power generation, distribution, and consumption needs variable pressure three or five times, thus, the transformer is a large number, large capacity, and great loss in the distribution network.. Based on a method of technical economy analysis total owning cost, which evaluated energy efficiency of transformer relatively comprehensive, this paper analyzes and quantitative calculates the selection of economic capacity, type selecting and economic operation of distribution transformers according to some enterprises'electro-date in Yunfu area, Guangdong province. The results showed that economic operation of distribution transformer can greatly improve energy-saving and the electric power quality.On the other hand, properly reactive power compensation is an effective way to saving energy and decreasing loss and improving voltage quality. This paper established mathematical model according 10kv line parameters in Yunfu area, Guangdong province, which objective function is maximization of comprehensive benefit after reactive power compensation and solve the problem with genetic algorithm. It improves genetic algorithm according to model characteristics, such as improving coding method, forming initial population, designing fitness function, and then calculate it with computer program to confirm the location and capacity of reactive power compensation. Such that, this line can be in a economical reliable running state and it offers engineering application for the whole distribution network's energy consumption.Through analsis the two aspects of energy conservation and reducing network loss about the transformers and reactive power optimization of distribution network, make 10kV distribution network optimal, achieve lower power loss, energy conservation and protect the environment.
