All the time, the saturated soil to be seen as continuous, uniform medium,by direct use of or amendment continuous , uniform solid mechanics to achieve on soil strength calculations. But the saturated soils are composed of a variety of sizes of soil particles through the formation of different structural composition of soil skeleton and pore water,so the soil to be seen as a uniform, continuous medium assumption is a simplified approach, but it is not conducive to acquaint the basic nature of the soil.Soil particle size is the most important factor of the nature of the soil,so the soil particles be seen as composed by the matrix particles (particle size <0.075mm) and the reinforcement (particle size> 0.075mm),the matrix particles and pore water are combined completely in which matrix particles statistics evenly, this is the " Matrix-reinforcement " model. This model makes a study of soil structural, and it is very important to in-depth understand of soil physical and mechanical properties.Drawing lessons from testing of scale effect aboat metal compound material to doing the following tasks:1.The study on the soil liquid and plastic limit which composed by the same reinforcement and different contend of the matrix particles. The results showed: the soil liquid and plastic limits has nothing to do with the particle size, negative correlation with the particle content. The reinforcement moisturecontent independents of the particle content or particle size. Liquidity index and the reinforcement moisturecontent are one-one correspondence.2.The study on the soil liquid and plastic limit which composed by the different reinforcement and the same contend of the matrix particles. The results showed: the higher the matrix of bentonite, the higher the plastic limit and plastic limit. And the existence of a critical value, greater than the critical value the liquid and plastic limits of soil increases with the rate greater than the rate less than the critical value.3.The study on the soil unconsolidated-undrained triaxial test which composed by the same reinforcement and different contend of the matrix particles. The results showed: the soil yield stress increases with the increasing of sand content, with decreasing of particle size.4.The study on the soil unconsolidated-undrained triaxial test which composed by the different reinforcement and same contend of the matrix particles. The results showed: the smaller the liquid matrix of reinforcement, the greater the yield stress of soil. 5.Based on the testing, obtained the empirical formula of yield strength by mixing matrix particles.
