After analyzing the principle of generating lightning and elaborating the relevant calculation of lightning over-voltage briefly, the article comprehensively elaborates the ways of protecting lightning and the zinc oxide arrester that are commonly used nowadays. About 10kV railway power line, the article proposes the protection method of induction lightning strike that is using the protection gap whose distance is fixed connecting with the zinc oxide arrester then in parallel with insulator and installed in fixed bases, elaborates the superiorities of the protection method and gives the two important parameters of the method with theoretical calculation and actual operating experience. The two important parameters are the size of protection gap and the U1mA action voltage.After deeply analyzing the protection principle and the process of physical movement of the equipment that is using the protection gap whose distance is fixed connecting with the zinc oxide arrester then in parallel with insulator and installed in fixed bases, the author simulate the diversification of MOA′s voltage and current in the process of protection with simulink. The simulation part of the article only theoretically depicts the change of parameters of MOA after the protection gap being punctured when the protector bearing induction overvoltage.The theoretical analysis and principle simulation all show that the use of the protection method of induction lightning strike that is using the protection gap whose distance is fixed connecting with the zinc oxide arrester then in parallel with insulator and installed in fixed bases in 10kV railway power line can effectively protect the railway supply line when suffering induction lightning, effectively solve the reclosing operation of circuit breaker after the tripping caused by the frequency freewheeling and extend the life of MOA under the circumstances of using MOA itself only. The use of the protection method can achieve economic and reliable practical results and is an innovative means of the application of lightning protection in related fields.
