Al/AgO battery has the highest specific capacity among aqueous batteries. The specific capacity of Al/AgO is 378Ah/kg. It has been used in different ways, such as field portable devices, emergency power supplies, back-up power and autovehicles.In this paper AgO was synthesized by chemical method. The structure and properties were studied. The discharge perfoamance was improved by adding additives into electrolyte. PVA based alkaline polymer electrolyte was prepared by solution casting method. Discharge test was used for Al/AgO battery with different electrolytes. Constant current charge-discharge test was used for Al/AgO battery.The results show that the purity rate of AgO can reach up to 98.4%. The material is the monoclinic system and has good electrochemistry reversibility. The alkaline polymer electrolytes have a highest room temperature ionic conductivity about 0.116Scm-1 and a wide electrochemical stability window about 2.0V. The liquid absorption ratio of alkaline polymer electrolytes is 275.4%.The alkaline polymer electrolytes are suitable for Al/AgO battery.Adding NaAlO2 into electrolyte improved high discharge rate performance of Al/AgO battery. The specific capacity of battery was improved from 282 mAh/g to 337mAh/g at 0.1C. The addition of NaCl enhanced the high discharge rate propertity of Al/AgO battery. The specific capacity of battery was improved from 225 mAh/g to 260mAh/g at 3C and enhanced from 185 mAh/g to 222mAh/g at 5C.Constant current charge-discharge test was used for Al/AgO battery. The Al/AgO battery with alkaline liquid electrolyte (4mol/L NaOH+3.5%NaCl) has the first specific capacity of 352 mAh/g. The specific capacity of alkaline liquid electrolyte battery was 1.44 mAh/g after 20 cycles. The Al/AgO battery has the first specific capacity of 241 mAh/g with alkaline polymer electrolyte (m(PVA):m(KOH):m(PAAS):m(Al2O3) =1:1:1/7:1/10). The specific capacity of alkaline polymer electrolyte battery was 156 mAh/g after 20 cycles. It was indicated that the alkaline polymer electrolyte could enhance the cycle property of Al/AgO battery.
