Forecasting the stiffness characteristics , the strength characteristics , the modal characteristics and the fatigue characteristics of vehicle parts during the process of the vehicle design is a necessary step to reduce the time of design . The finite element theory , the dynamics theory offers an advanced method . During the analysis of the virtual digital model , we can find the problem exist in the initial stages of design. It not only helps us save the time but also saves the money .Taking a frame as the research object , the finite element modal analysis of frame are performed through the finite element analysis software MSC.Nastran . The Modal Neutral File (FEA) is got at the same time . Secondly, the whole vehicle rigid-flexible coupling modal equipped with the frame is built and analyzed to obtain the load histories through driving on cross-country path and strengthen-road . Then the virtual fatigue test of the frame can be conducted with the modal displacement histories transformed by Modal Stress Recovery (MSR) . The life distribution of the frame and the fatigue lives of the most damaged points are obtained . The results are valid to evaluate car-body structure fatigue life at products design stage conveniently .
