Mass customization combines the advantages of mass production and customization production, maintains low cost, shorter delivery time and satisfies the customer's individual requirements. Product family technology is an important means of production methods to achieve mass customization. In order to determine the product platform and modularize for product family planning, with the guide of mass customization and the goal of design resources reuse, this thesis researched the method of the modular product family planning, and the main research contents include the following aspects:(1) The related supporting technologies and situation were expatiated; the current module partition problem and product family technologies were pointed; the research contents were presented; the feature and the structure of this thesis were discussed(2) Analytic hierarchy process was used to analyze the customer requirements. The relationship model of customer requirement and products technical parameters was built. All products were classified according to the similarity of product technical parameters.(3) Research on module partition problem for product family based on genetic algorithm.The main foundation of module partition was according to the structural and functional associated value between product components, the relevance between components in the product life cycle at different stages was analyzed comprehensively. The paper presented an objective function for module partition according to the principle of module partition. Genetic algorithm was used to resolve the module partition problem.(4) Modular product family planning model with three different levels of and objectives including module aggregation, clustering and module sharing was built. Product platform modules were established.The hierarchical genetic algorithm for solving product family planning problems was researched.(5) The planning method has been validated by the dump truck instance.(6) Sum up the research contents of the thesis, prospect the forward study.
