In urban environment, the development of architecture is influenced by a number of external elements. First of all, the globalized and infomationized social environment intensifies the overall connection, drives the optimization of resource distribution, and enables the sharing of information. In the case of continuously varying social culture, architects achieve new realization of the internal relations among the segments, alterations and unstable factors in the life, and quest for modern constructions with more correlative, interactive and dynamic thinking. In such urban atmosphere, architecture cannot avoid the growing infiltration from other field, subject and concept; the effect of topography and ground art cause architecture pay more and more attention to the cooperation with the terrain form, which is one of the essential properties of artificiality on the earth. Meanwhile, the importance of the construction of regional cityscape as a whole increases steadily, and even becomes one of the ultimate goals of architectural activity, which motivates the integration of architecture, urbanology and landscape science, hence promotes the generating and development of land form architecture in the urban condition. This paper introduces the background of the origin, the history of development and the importance for cities of landform architecture in urban situations; it analyzes the representative features of urban landform architecture; it proposes design tactics for land form construction in the city; it reveals the enlightenment from urban landform architecture for the development of modern architecture, and the possible developing direction. This paper, with the analysis of the origin background and the character of landform architecture in urban condition, suggests an overall developing relationship between constructions and city environment, and discourses upon the design strategy of urban landform buildings in detail, in the core section. This thesis studies on foundation continuity-based tactics, space integration-based tactics and landscape construction-based strategy, in order to explore the way how this type of architecture participates widely in a complicated city-system, making the city a continuous, highly efficient and united organization; it also elaborates on the way how this type of architecture makes use of land form to construct, within the constraint of urban situation, a landscaped, correlated and diversified living environment for the human beings.
