Basic characters of a high polymer resin, PR ?3005L, on soil moisture retention and fertilizer relese were studied. Plot and field experiments were conducted with three kinds of plant to study the effects of this resin. Biological indexes of soybean were com- pared. Biological indexes of two kinds of flowers, Salvia splendens and Callistephus chi- nenszs were determined during seeding stage and flowering stage. In this paper, the ef- fects of this high polymer resin were described. The main results obtained are as followings: 1. PR?005L resin can absorb 156. 5 times distilled water. The multiple in the so- lution is lower than in distilled water and goes down with the rising of solute concentra- tion. When the type of solute is not same, the range of descending is different. (1) The absorbing multiple is down with ion concentration of the solution going up when the so- lute is electrolyte; (2) the absorbing multiple declines slightly with solution concentra- tion increasing when the solute is not electrolyte. 2. PR?005L resin can prevent water content in soil and decrease evaporation ap- parently. After 30 days of applying resin, comparing with the control, mean evapora- tion lessens 13. 71%?19. 23% every day in sandy soil; mean evaporation lessens 17. 17%?9. 23% every day in black soil. 3. PR?005L resin can promote the growth of Salvia splendens, Callistephus chi- nensis. It can lengthen the time of flowering stage and increase the number of flower. In the experiment, A2 was the best. 4. Despite most biological indexes of soybean had no apparent difference, the regu- larity of this resin accord with the demand of soybean relatively.
