Heilongjiang is one of provinces that have most cows in China .It is important to controldiseases of cows, produce much excellent milk and devlop husbandry.The motivation of thisstudy is to investigate the factors leading to Vitamin A(VA) and Vitamin E(VE) deficiency,to analyze the relationship between the Vitamins and mastitis of cows, to determine the effectof VA and VE supplementation. 30 cows separately from Anda, Shuangcheng areas, themain feed lots in Heilongjiang province and 20 cows from Xiangfang district of Harbin citywere chosen to investigate VA and VE deficiency at the first time. The major scheme is todetermine quantitatively the content of VA, β-carotene,VE in forage and serum. Cows withmastitis were separated to analyze the relationship between VA, VE and mastitis. l6 cowschosen from 20 cows above in Harbin were divided into three groups, group I with six cows(VA (0.3 μg/ml), group Ⅱ with sin cows (VE〈4.0 μg/ml) and control group with fourcows (VA) 0.3 μg/ml, VE〉4.0μg/ml), cows of group Ⅰ, group Ⅱ were administeredby 50,000IU VA or l00,000 VE for 90 days. The activities of Superoxidase(SOD),Glutathione peroxidase(GSH-P_x), the contents of lipid peroxidation Malonaldehyde diethylacetyl (MDA) and Total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC) in serum were determined on the lst,30th, 60th, 90th day. The results of investigation and experiment indicated as follows:1. The cows in Anda area were fed on hay in winter and grazed in summer while cows inShuangcheng were raised in cowsfold all year and fed on maize straw,distillers grains andlittle maize flour.The experiment indicates the cows in Anda and Shuangcheng areas arein the status of subcliaical VA and VE deficiency due to the lack of these two Vitamins inforage grass and feed. The cows in Xiangfang district of Harbin are fed on hay, wheatbran, maize, soybean cake and Vitamins additives. Most of the cows are subclinical VAand VE deficiency.The main reason is the unsuitable modulation mode of forage.2. The contents of VA, β-carotene,VE in serum of cows with mastitis are lower than thatof healthy cows, which indicates that there is potential relationship between mastitisand VA, VE deficiency.3. 30 day,60 day,90 day after supplementing VA and VE, With the contents of VA and VEenhance, the activities of SOD ,GSH-P_x and T-AOC in serum increase in somedegree, but the content of MDA decreases, it indicates VA and VE have very strongantioxidant capacity.Lin Liling Clinical Veterinary MedicineSupervisor: Shi Faqing Professor...
