Two experiments were carried out to mainly investigate effects of dietary glutamine supplementation on pancreatic growth and development of pancreatic enzyme system in piglets The results suggest that glutamine addition can improve pancreatic growth and antioxidants capacity, and may be beneficial for development of pancreatic enzyme in early-weaned piglets.Exp.1: The objectives of the study were to determine the effect of glutainine supplementation in weaned diets on plasma glutamine level, pancreatic weights, protein and DNA content, and the activities of trypsin,chymoU-ypsin and amylase in pancreatic tissue and intestinal chyme and mucosa. Forty-five piglets weaned at 21 d were used, which were the offsprings of Large-White X Landrace X Beijing Black crossbred sows. Five of them were killed at 21 d ,and the rest were divided randomly into two groups: control (+0% glutamine )and treatment (+1.2% glutamine). There were 4 piglets per pen and 5 pens per group. The diets were calculated to be isonitrogenous and isoenergetic .Blood was drawn at weeks 0,2,and 4 post-weaning respectively.Five piglets from each group were killed at weeks 2 and 4 post-weaning respectively. The results were as foliows:(1) Plasma glutamine concentration were reduced significantly (p
