Two rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus strains named RHD-NW1 and RHI)-NW2 were isolated in the Wu Chuan county, Inner Mongolian. And their morphological-. physical chemical and biological characteristics were identified. the result showed that both of them were virulent virus strains. When they were cultured continuously for 4 generations in rabbits, The rabbits showed typical clinical signs and pathogenic change. Under electron microscope, each strain h~ a spherical shape with 3Onm in diameter and an edge with equidistant tooth-like flanges, but had no envelope. There were two kinds of virus particles, the solid virions (400/o)and the empty virions (60%). Both strains could resist the treatment of ether, trypsin, acid (pH3.0)and heat (5&C 60mm). They could agglutinate the 0 and B type of with high HA titers and the characteristic of HA could be inhibited by the postive serum against rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus. Two kinds of vaccine, the inactivated oil-Emulsion vaccine and the inactivated aluminum hydroxide colloid vaccine were developed. Both kinds of vaccine were qualified when they were tested in the aspects of infertility and physical and chemical properties. There was not any bad response when they were innoculated in rabbits with the big dose. Afler vaccined all rabbits attained the protection against the challenge of the virulent virus. The vaccined rabbits could get a continuous immune period of 5 month at least.
