A study was conducted in the lab from April to June in 2000. Mnipponense were fed in different vitamin D3 diets for four weeks and in vitamin D2 and D3 (70001U/ I OOg) for three weeks. After four weeks, we measured the effect of vitamin D3 in diet on survival, moult, length and weight gain, and the effect of the content of Ca P in plasma, in curst, in muscle, and also measured the effect of vitamin D3 on RNA/DNA value, on protein content in plasma and AEC of muscle. Finally, we compared the effect of vitamin D2 and vitamin D3 in diets on the growth of M nipponense. The mainly results were: (1) Vitamin D is the essential nutrition on the growth of M nipponense. (2) The growth, length and weight gain is the best when M nipponense are fed in diet of 70001U/lOOg vitamin D3. (3) Vitamin D3 can significantly improve bone mineralization, deposition of Ca and the optimum distribution of P in M nipponense. (4) The diet of 70001U11 OOg vitamin D3 and vitamin D2 not only on the index of growth but also RNA/DNA value, protein content and AEC are not significant.
