Random sampling 36 wild Japanese quails from which migrated to and settled down the Weishan Lake area, and the quails were bred in captivity in the artificial conditions. The difference of behaviors and organism抯 habits was detected. It also measured the index of figure type and dissected the structure of the quails. The gene frequency of 10 loci in viscera and muscle was detected with horizontal starch gel electrophoresis. All allele frequencies of allozyme polymorphism loci were calculated, and the reliability and accuracy of every estimated frequencies value were evaluated. The results were as follows:I.The wild Japanese quails in the Weishan Lake area was timid and easily frightened, and was sensitive to all outside stimulation. It was different in shape ,but the other traits was the same as domestic quails such as color of feather stripe, beak shape andchirping.2.The morphology and number of all skeletons in the wild Japanese quails were the same as domestic quails ,apart from the difference of skeletons length.3.In the wild Japanese quails in the Weishan Lake area ,polymorphism was found in Adh,Es-D,Es,Pgi,6-Pgd, a -Gpd and Mpi- I ,however, not found in Mpi- II ,Mdh- I and Mdli- ii4.After collecting the same data about the 20 quail colonies in China and other countries, standard genetic distances among quail groups were calculated with gene frequencies of 7 allozymes loci, then cluster analysis and fuzzy discrimination according to the distance. The study indicated that the wild Japanese quail populations in the Weishan Lake area was closer to domestic quails for phylogenetic system than wild Japanese quails populations in Japanese Islands, and perhaps the wild Japanese quails in the Weishan Lake area and domestic quails shared the same origin in nearer times.
