The effect of site conditions and stand density on variation of main anatomical physical and mechanical properties of wood of Scots Pine plantation forest was studied in this research . The variation of growth rings properties and wood quality was systematically analyzed. The results are as follows: The annual ring width and fiber angle decreased, the fiber length and basic density increased with the increasing of initial stand density. The wood mechanical property was improved as a result. The growth rate and width of growth rings increased as the thinning intensity increased. Heavy thinning was followed by the decrease of wood density and latewood percentage. while moderate thinning intensity tended to result in the improvement of wood mechanical properties. Difference of site conditions has significant effect on wood properties. The fiber length, fiber angle, the annual ring width as well as the mechanical properties of wood from the stand on the south-facing site are better comparing to that on the north-facing site. Trend of impact on the variation of wood quality of stands on different slope positions is also determined. Different silvicultural practice significantly influenced the swing of wood quality variation, but the general variation pattern of that remain unchanged. The optimal silvicultural strategy for growing both construction-wood and pulpwood products Socts Pine plantation forest was discussed.
