Experiments were designed as orthogonal trial at four factors (including irrigation amount, fertilizer amount, sowing rate and row spacing ) and three levels and four single-factor trials (including irrigation trial, fertilizer application amount trial, sowing rate trial and row spacing trial), to study the suitability of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) for the soil and climates of Lanzhou area, and to know the relative significance of four main factors on actual seed yield and seed quality in seed production. In the meantime, experiments designed as two single-factor trials (sowing rate trial and row spacing trial) to research sustainability of perennial ryegrass (Loliumpererzne L.) for the climates and soil of Lanzhou area. According to experiments to bring up the practicability about founding a base for turfgrasses seed production in Lanzhou district and bring up the better geoponics techniques on seed production. The results showed that the soil and climates of Lanzhou area were fit for seed production of turfgrasses. The results of four single-factor trials agreed with orthogonal trial, and there were significant differences for four main factors on seed yield, seed quality, seed productivity and grown characteristics of tall fescue, especially seed yield and seed quality. The seed yield and seed quality have significant increasing according irrigation times and fertilizing amount adding, and reti rked increasing first but after decreasing with sowing rate and rowing spacing adding for turfgrasses. The order of importance of four factors on actual seed yield were following: irrigation, row spacing, sowing rate, fertilizer application, and the function of four factors on a plant seed yield was sequenced: irrigation, sowing rate, row spacing, fertilizer. The regression equation on seed yield(Y), irrigation amount (X1), fertilizer application(X2), sowing rate (X3) and row spacing(X4) for turf梩ype tall fescue seed production has been worked out as follows: Y . ( F37. 244, R=0. 9334) and regression equation on seed yield of a plant (Y), irrigation amount (XD,fertilizer application (X2),sowing rate(X3)and row spacing (X4) for turf ype tall fescue seed production was Y=2. 223E 03X1 tX2aololX L lX4 (F=109. 7333, R=0. 9758) The data package for optimal seed production for tall fescue in Lanzhou area is suggested as follows: irrigation amount 300(11n3/hn , fertilizer application((Nl-l )2HP04) 75 50 kg/bin2, row spacing 0. 2m, sowing rate 3kg/bin2. The optimal seed production techniques for perennial ryegrass as following: row spacing 30-40cm, sowing rate 9 2kg/bin2.
