Although agricultural land rate and appraisal has been greatly improved in recent years , classification on arable land lags behind gradation in theory ,method and practice. The research elaborated its meaning, features, principles and theories. Based on this, Classifying method system was founded. In this system, the classification was divided into fundamental class and individual class according to their separate classifying aim. The system consisted of seven parameters that were irrigation effective coefficient, soil correction coefficient, land use and management coefficient, land classification economic coefficient, land sustainable use and management coefficient and individual correction coefficient. Each model's meaning and calculating method were supplied. Cultivated sector was used as classifying unit; the method of Delliph was used to select classifying factors and determine factor powers; standard land was selected to attain classifying data and index determined according to the notion of membership function; the class index was attained by multiplication and according to its distributing frequency, the arable land was classified. Individual class index was calculated by investigating land inputs and outputs or determining some soil nutrients. The classifying method was applied on arable land in Qudi town and the land was divided into 4 class. The results objectively reflecting the actual land productivity and its returns indicated that the classifying method system was scientific and feasible.
