Arable land is not only a valuable resource in China,but also the most important means of production for agricultural development.Due to the high requirements of the country on the arable land protection and construction management,the regular evaluation of the arable land quality grade has become a regular work.With the deepening of the connotation of arable land quality,in order to evaluate the arable land quality and arable land productivity more objectively' and accurately,it is particularly important to establish a more systematic evaluation index system.This study takes the arable land of Tongshan county as an example,defines the connotation of arable land quality and arable land productivity,takes the principle of objectivity,systematicness,scientificity,integrity and simplicity,and combines with the actual conditions of the region to build an appropriate evaluation index system.The evaluation index is assigned by using analytic hierarchy process(ahp)and expert grading method,and the indexes of arable land quality and arable land productivity are calculated by using continuous product method and grade-by-grade correction method.The conclusions are as follows:(1)In the evaluation of arable land quality in Tongshan county,the excellent land is mainly distributed in the northeast of Tongyang town,the east of Huangshapu town,and the northeast and south of Chuangwang town.The good land is mainly distributed in the northwest of Nanlinqiao town,Dalu township and Tongyang town,where have deep soil layer and the soil are mostly formed by river alluvial material there.The soil is more medium and light soil in texture.The difference of cultivated land production capacity between towns and villages in Tongshan county is not obvious,most of which are fifth and sixth,which account for a large proportion.(2)By combining of arable land productivity evaluation index and classification figure,it can be seen that the arable land coefficient is focused on the natural quality(0.86,0.93]interval Nanlinqiao town,DaLu Township and Tongshan town township of arable land,arable land productivity level is higher,which mainly concentrated in four,five levels.The arable land natural quality coefficient of southern Honggang town and western Huangshapu town concentrated in the interval(0.78,0.82],(0.74,0.78],of which the arable land production capacity focus on eighth,ninth.It is concluded that the natural quality of arable land in Tongshan county has a limit on its arable land productivity.Among all the secondary indexes under the first-level index of arable land natural quality,topographic position,field slope,altitude,topsoil texture and soil nutrient elements account for a large proportion.Combined with the spatial distribution characteristics of the arable land productivity index classification map of Tongshan county,it can be concluded that the topographic position has a greater impact on the arable land productivity of Tongshan county.(3)Compared the analysis respectively,the evaluation results and the anniversary of the establishment of standard grain yield,agricultural land grading results,it is concluded that arable land quality is not the only factors that affect crop yield,not a single to determine the standard of production capacity.Arable land productivity evaluation index and countries use index are roughly same in the distribution of relatively higher and lower level land.It indicates that the evaluation index system can perform the arable land quality and arable land productivity of study area basicaly objectively and effectively.But there are some difference in the distribution,the main reason is the differences between the system,grading and assignment.
