There are many studies on Bombyx mandarina and Antheraea yamamai in or out of China, but no paper about them that were irradiated by He-Ne laser is found yet. In this study, using physiological and biochemical methods and molecular biology technology analyzed the inductive biological effects of Bombyx mandarina and Antheraea yamamai which were irradiated by He-Ne laser for the first time. The results were obtained as follows. The incubation eggs and pupae of mulberry wild silkworm (Bombyx mandarina Moore) were radiated by using a certain dosage of He-Ne laser, and were outbreeded with plain silkworm (Bombyx mori.). Physiological characters of their progeny were observed, and the blood protein and esterase isoenzyme were analyzed with PAGE, found variation of larval stripe and oil silkworm and some changes in band number and activity. Surveys of their cocoon and filament quality show variations compared with control plot, found a mutant that has hereditable character. All those indicated that He-Ne laser has distinct inductive effects on mulberry wild silkworm.Progeny DNA of Bombyx mandarina, which had been irradiated by using He-Ne laser, was analyzed by RAPD. The results were that female DNA polymorphisms of treated plots increased, similarity coefficient decreased and genetic distance became wider compared with control plot, but the male DNA polymorphisms of treated plot decreased, similarity coefficient increased and genetic distance became narrower; the male DNA polymorphisms were lower than female in treated plots, but they were reversed in the control plot. The change of male DNA polymorphisms differed form that of female after using He-Ne laser irradiated them.Using different dosages of He-Ne laser irradiated the developmental eggs of Antheraea yamamai. Compared with control plot, their hatchabilities were increased and their larval duration was influenced. Individual such as abnormal and premature mutants was also obtained. The blood protein and esterase isoenzyme of their pupa were analyzed with PAGE, found some changes in bandr umber and activity. All those indicated that He-Ne laser has some inductive effects on physiological and biochemical characters of Antheraeayamamai. Pupal DNA of Antheraea yamamai, which had been irradiated by using He-Ne laser, was analyzed by RAPD. The results were that special bands increased, genetic distance became wider and DNA polymorphisms were related with GC content. Which suggested that the bases converted easily and GC content of template DNA reduced after induced by He-Ne laser, resulting in DNA polymorphisms increasing for more locations combined with primers.Long filament individual with thin filament size and premature mutant were obtained in Bombyx mandarina and Antheraea yamamai respectively after they were irradiated by He-Ne laser. Thus it is important for breeding variety that has choice characters...
