Seed metering mechanism is a heart of the planter's of which the characteristics has direct influence on operational quality whether it performs well or not. The author has made a study of the combined studded feed roller seed metering device on the 2BM-9 model no-till planter made in Canada and conducted a contrast test to the standard fluted feed, Fine fluted feed and the combined studded feed roller seed metering devices for the analysis of performance, characteristics and application of them based on the relevant state standard and agronomic technical requirement . Besides, According to the understanding of operational mechanism of the combined studded feed roller seed metering device, the author has formulated a mathematical equation to calculate the thickness of seed tugged by the studded feed roller and analyzed the factors to affect the thickness. Since the seeding rate is adjusted by a stepless speed regulator, The combined studded feed roller seed metering device is suitable for the application on a planter with variable seeding rate and realizes an accurate minimum seeding operation.
