This study was carried out to determine the effect of three dietary selenium (Se) supplemental levels (0.15,0.30 and 0.45 mg/kg) on areas heavy deficient selenium, provided as sodium selenite to low-Se basal diets (0.03mg/kg) on growth, production and egg quality of egg-laying poultry. Two hundred and seventy 90-old pullets were randomly distributed in three groups, using a designing of single factor. The feeding trail was divided into two stage, 14~ 20 weeks of age and 20~32 weeks of age, metabolize and digestion were conducted and the egg quality was analyses during 34 weeks, and four laying hens were slaughter in each group at the end of the trail to determine the concentration of Se in liver, heart, lung, thigh muscle, blood, feather, the whole egg. The results of the test are as follows: ( 1 ) growth period, results showed that different levels selenium had no adverse effect on daily weight gain, feed consumption and feed efficiency of egg-laying poultry. (2) laying period. At all supplemental levels, laying hens fed with added 0.30mg/kg selenium on diet had a slight or significant (P<0. 05) increase in production and feed efficiency than did hens fed diets added 0.45 mg/kg or 0.15 mg/kg selenium. (3) different levels selenium added on the diet had significantly effect on egg shape index, egg shell strengthen, egg white height, (4) no significantly (P>0. 05 ) differences were observed in laying hens with regard to nitrogen equilibrium and apparent utilization. ( 5 ) the results showed that concentration of Se in liver and heart had a significantlyC PO.01 ) increase with each increment in dietary Se, and no significantly difference ( P>0.05 ) in concentration of Se in lung, blood, thigh muscle, feather and whole egg. But, there had a slight increase in concentration of Se in whole egg. In fresh condition, the range ofconcentration of Se in liver, heart, lung, thigh muscle, the whole blood and egg were: 0.28 - 0.74, 0.17-0.33, 0.17-0.24, 0.07-0.11, 0.27-0.24, 0.23 - 0.34ug/g; the range of concentration of Se in liver, heart, lung, thigh muscle and feather based on air dry mass as follows: 0.79-1.98, 0.70-1.39, 0.85 - 1.27, 0.27-0.44, 0.28- 0.32ug/g. All of them were in normal rang. It can be considered that under the condition of the trail, the basal diets supplemental with Se 0.30mg/kg can be the best supplement for egg-laying poultry's diets.
