To scientificly assess the effect of the rice chalkiness regulators on the paddy photosynthesis, dry matter production and distribution, also to provide scientific bases for the rice regulators improving and perfecting, the studies was conducted in 2001 in hunan agricultural university farm. Xiangzaoxian-3K Baliangyou-96 were used in the study of early rice. Xiangwanxian-^ Xinxiangyou-80 were used in the study of late rice. The rice chalkiness regulators (A,B>C>D) were applied at full heading stage. The main results are as follows:1. The effects of the rice chalkiness regulators on paddy chalkiness, regulator C is the best , regulator A is in the next place, regulator B and D are the worst. Regulator C reduced the chalkiness rate and chalkiness area of Xiangzaoxian-31 significantly. Also regulator C significantly reduced the chalkiness rate of Baliangyou-96. The chalkiness rate , chalkiness area and chalkiness of Xinxiangyou-80 were reduced by regulator C. But regulator C had no obvious effects on the chalkiness rate and chalkiness of Xiangwanxian-10. Regulator A significantly reduced the chalkiness rate of Baliangyou-96, but augmented the chalkiness rate and chalkiness area of Xiangzaoxian-31. Regulator B had no effects on the chalkiness of Baliangyou-96, but augmented the chalkiness rate and chalkiness area of Xiangzaoxian-31. Regulator D augmented the chalkiness area of Xiangwanxian-10 and Xinxiangyou-80, it also augmented the chalkiness rate of Xiangwanxian-10.2. The effects of the rice chalkiness regulators on paddy yield ,it indicated that regulator C had no significant effects on all the experimental materials. Regulator A had no significant effects on the yield of Baliangyou-96, but it reduced the yield of Xiangzaoxian-31. Regulator B reduced the yield of Xiangzaoxian-31 and Baliangyou-96. Because regulator A and regulator B reduced the capability of dry matter production of relevant experimental materials at late growth stage. Regulator D had no significant effects on the yield of Xiangwanxian-10. But it improved the yield of Xinxiangyou-80, because it improved the capability of dry matter production of Xinxiangyou-80 at late growth stage. 3. The characteristics of photosynthesis were analysed. Results indicated that regulator C can improve and maintain the capability ofphotosynthesis of experimental materials at late growth stage, thus it meliorated the chalkiness properties. Compared with the control, regulator C improved the photosynthesis capability of Xiangzaoxian-31 during the filling stage, especially during the medium-term, late filling stage. Regulator C notablely significantly improved photosynthesis capability of flag leaf of Baliangyou-96 during the filling stage, but it reduced photosynthesis capability of the 2nd top leaf of Baliangyou-96 during the medium-term, late filling stage notablely significantly. Regulator C prolonged fuction days of the leaf of Xiangzaoxian-31 and Xiangwanxian-10. Regulator B reduced the photosynthesis capability of the fuction leaf of Xiangzaoxian-31 and Baliangyou-96 during the medium-ternK late filling stage.In all, variation of photosynthesis capability of experimental materials by regulator C is more smooth than other treatments during filling stage.4. The characteristics of dry matter production were analysed. Results indicated that regulator C improved the net assimilate, crop growth rate and relative growth rate of the experimental materials during the filling stage. It improved their capability of dry matter production, and it promoted high accumulation of the experimental materials. Thus it is in favor of grain enriching and quality meliorating. Regulator A improved the capability of dry matter production of Baliangyou-96 at late filling stage, and it meliorated the surface quality of Baliangyou-96. But regulator A reduced the capability of dry matter production of Xiangzaoxian-31 during filling stage,thus it reduced the yield and augumented the chalkiness of Xiangzaoxian-31.
