Magnolia biloba is famous Chinese traditional medicine., it has close-grained and beautiful timber. The paper based on experiments of 18-old-year Magnolia biloba in Hu-fang Country. A serial of experiments opened out: (1) rules of aerial part growth; (2) rules of underground part growth; (3) correlation between aerial part and underground part; (4) rules of skinning and regeneration; (5) Distribution of biomass in Magnolia biloba plantation; (6) productivity of the stand; (7) distribution of leave area index; (8) net assimilation rate of leaves; (8) biology cycle of nutriment-element in ecosystem. The main content of the study list as follows:1) In the studies, the growth patterns of magnolia biloba plantations and forest ecosystem were systematically studied, the characteristic growth of Magnolia biloba was told, fast growing stage and various growth models of the cultivated populations were established by the method of correlation analysis.2) Study on root system showed: inevident axial root, developed axillary root; 9-15 main axillary root, hereinto 9-12 horizontal root system, 0-3 vertical ones; over 90% of root system distributed within 0-40 crn soil horizon. Root system growth had evident fertiliertaxis and aerotaxis; aerial parts had evident relatives with underground parts.3) Experiment carried out on skinning position, skinning time and stand closure. The result showed that stand closure is a most important factor for skinning techniques of Magnolia biloba, and optimal skinning pattern is skinning 95 ~ 135 cm in height, close stand and in May~June. Observations and determination of Magnolia biloba original skin and regenerative skin resulted that if skinning techniques of Magnolia biloba were mastered, regenerative bark would reach the chickness of original one 2~3 years after skinning, and medicinal component of regenerative bark would nealy the same as original ones. The extension of these techniques would be important for protecting Magnolia biloba resources, increasing economic and ecological benefit in the production area4) Study on the surveys of the relations between various organs and factors of Magnolia biloba are obtained by the method of correlation analysis. The mathematical models for every organ have been established by applying the models of Y=aDb and Y=aDbHc which could be used for forecasting biomass of young Magnolia biloba in certain site conditions.25) This paper studies the biomass of Magnolia biloba plantation at 18-old-year in hufang country. The results showed as follows: The stand had the biomass of 108.93 t·ha- in which tree stratum and bark made up 98.83 t·ha-1 and 7.69 t·ha-1 respectively, and had average net production capacity of 6.05 t·ha-'·a~' in which the respective value of tree stratum and bark were 5.491 + ha-1·a-' and 0.43 t·ha~1·a-1.6) The accumulation, distribution and biological cycling of 11 nutrient elements in the plantation ecosystem are studied. The results show that among the various organs of aerial parts, the nutrient elements contents in plant and soil system are identical. In the plantation ecosystem, the content of macro nutriment consisted in Magnolia biloba is 14.97 kg·ha-1·a-1 (N, Ca, K highly, P, Mg lowly), micro nutriment is 4200.20 g·ha-1·a-1 (Fe highly, Ni lowly). Cycle rate of nutrient element range from 24 % to 60 %, and quantity of nutriment element for producing one ton dry-substance is 21.82 kg macro nutriment and 715.34 g micro nutriment.
