Abstract:Whether ascorbic acid(AA) is an essential nutrient for juvenile jian carp and the requirement are studed in this lecture.The experiment I is conducted to evaluate the essentialbility of ascorbic acid for juvenile jian carp(cyprinus carpio var.jian).192 healthy jian carp juvenile were divided into two groups( 1-1,1-2), with feeding containing vitamin C 0 or 60mg kg"1 semi-purified diet for 70 days.In experiment two,the index and requirement of AA for juvenile jian carp were determined. 576 healthy jian carp juvenile were divided into six groups( 2-1 > 2-2 > 2-3 > 2-4> 2-5 > 2-6), with feeding the semi-purified diets containing 10, 25, 45, 60, 90, 120mgkg"'of AA respectively for 70 days.The results of experiment I show that the difficiency of AA influenced weight gain,weight gain/feed intake,hepatopancreas weight , conditon factor ,AA content in post kidney and body length (p<0.01);but feed intake, HSI and the activity of L-guloto-lactone oxidase in post kidney were not significantly enfluenced(p>0.05). Weight gain,hepatopancreas weight,feed intake,condition factor and AA content in post kidney of l-l(Oppm) were lower than those of 1-2 (60mg/kg)(p<0.01);body length of 1 -1 was lower than that of 1 -2(p<0.05);weight gain/feed intake of 1-1 was higher than that of l-2(p<0.01).These results indicate: juvenile jian carp have limite ability to synthesize AA;AA is an essential nutrient for juvenile jian carp;the defficiency of AA could result body growth and hepatopancreas growth suppressed, feed utilization reduced, conditon factor and the AA content in post kidney decreased; the AA content in post kidney can response nutritional condition of AA,and signs of AA difficiency was abserved in juvenile jian carp when the AA content in post kidney is lower than 55.23ug g"'.The results of experiment II show that the AA in diets significantly influneced feed intake, body length, body weight,weight gain/feed intake,hepatopancreas weight and condition factor (p<0.01),and significantly influenced AA contend in post kidney(p<0.05) too,but not significantly influenced survival and HSI(p>0.05).The significantly quadratic regression relationship between weight gain,weight gain/feed intake,conditon factor,body length,AA content in post kidney,38hepatopancreas weight and the dietary AA levels was abserved (p<0.05). With diet containing AA 66.60,69.51,60.56,61.74,61.64 and 103.73mg.kg-l, the weight gain,feed utilization,body length,condition factor,hepatopancreas weight and AA contend in post kidney was the best. . These results indicate that body length,weight gain,weight gain/feed intake,hepatopancreas weight,condition factor and post kidney AA content could be used as indices to determin the requirement AA for juvenile jian carp;AA requirement could be over estimated determined by AA content in post kidney, while the estimated requirements are similar determined by body length, weight gain/feed intake, condition factor and hepatopancreas weight to that determined by growth rate, the requirement of AA for juvenile jian carp is 66.60mg.kg-l.In summary, juvenile jian carp (12-35g) have limiting ability to synthesize AA; AA is an essential nutrient for juvenile jian carp ;the deficiency of AA could result in body growth and hepatopancreas growth suppressed, feed utilization reduced, conditon factor and the AA content in post kidney decreased; the AA content in post kidney can response nutritional condition of AA,and signs of AA difficiency was abserved in juvenile jian carp when the content of AA in post kidney is lower than 55.23ug g"' ; body length,body weight,feed conversion ratio,hepatopancreas weight,condition indices and post kidney AA content could be used as index to determin, the requirement AA for juvenile jian carp ; AA requirement for Jian carp juvenile(12-35g) is 66.60ppm.
