This research studied the genetic diversity in seabuckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L, form the viewpoints of allozyme, chromosome and morphology. The results indicated that the seabuckthorn has significant genetic diversity. In the 5 enzyme system being studied ,the A & B gene of PER-2 site and B gene of EST-1 site are the characteristic genes of seabuckthorn ;there are distinct differences between the Chinese seabuckthorn and Russian seabuckthorn linear genes on PER-1 site .Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis was used to analysis the 5 enzyme system ,8 loci and 16 allelic genes .Genetic diversity within 8 lines was relatively high with the percentage of polymorphic loci (P) of 69% ,average number of the alleles per locus (A) of1.84 ,mean expected heterozygosity (He) of 0.32 and mean observed heterozygosity (Ho) of 0.33 . In general, 83.4% of genetic variation were attributed to the differentiation among lines ,while the remaining 16.6% resided- within variety .The karyorypic analysis indicated that the chromosomal number was stable (2n=24) in all lines ,which were all composed of median and submedian kinetic body ,karyotypes of the lines were "2A" or "2B" type .Karyotypical polymorphism was shown in these lines .The observational and determinal research on morpha showed that the genetic variability among these lines and among varieties of these lines appeared not same . The intervarietal diversity were shown as the number of caltrop spines of annual branch and flowers of inflorescence .While the interlinear diversity were shown on such characters as number of hundred fruits weight ,tepal and fruit form.
