Paulownia is one of the fast-growing trees in china. It is of social, economic and ecological importance in improving environment, timber shortage and people's living standard to plant these trees in larger areas. But witches' broom had greatly effect on Paulownia timber productivity. This paper dealt with proteins in the diseased and healthy leaves of affected trees, healthy ones of healthy trees at the same direction and position and the same strain of Paulownia tomentosa, P. fortunei, P. auslralis respectively. The results indicated that some special proteins changed in three species of Paulownia tree leaves with single SDS-PAGE, especially ones with Rf value of 0.22, 0.50 and 0.78 in P. lomentosa; 0.52 and 0.64 in P. fortunei; 0.37 and 0.59 in P. auslralis, of which quantity in the diseased leaves was lower than that in the healthy leaves. And that the protein with pI6.8, MW24KD in 2D-SDS-PAGE, which existing in healthy leaves of healthy and affected trees disappeared in diseased leaves, might be related to witches' broom of Paulownia trees...
