Cineraria is among the most popular appreciative flowers in the world. Cineraria is a kind of fairly ideal green house flowers for the blossom season of it lasting over 2 to 3 months during winter and spring, which covers the New Year and the Chinese Rural New Year, as well as the shape of Cineraria is beautiful and elegant. Cineraria, therefore, takes a big share of the market and has a high economic return. Now the study of Cineraria in the world is still on the initial stage. The work mainly concentrates on such fields as the technology of planting and controlling; the selections and cultivations of the new breeds and the technology of preserving the cutted flowers. There is much room to explore in the fields of the theory of resistant nature of Cineraria especially in the fields of the study of its cold-resistant nature. This paper had carefully studied five new breeds cultivated by the Research Institute of Flowers of Dafeng City, Jiangsu Province, which were Badge, Fairytale, Happiness, Gift and Warmness. The paper used the variance analysis and multiple comparison methods together with the pattern observation of the grail experiment through which the sequence of its cold-resistant nature was determined and the cold-resistant breeds were singled out. The main results and conclusions were as follows:1. Under the circumstance of low-temperature stress, the amount of Chlorophyll in the leaves of Cineraria decreased with the fall of the temperature and the length of the time. However, under slight interference, the significance of the declining tendency of Cineraria was less distinctive by variance analysis. This partly showed that the biological reaction of Cineraria under low-temperature interference was somewhat relative to the cold-resistant nature of the breed.2. Under the circumstance of low-temperature stress, the RPP of the leaves of Cineraria changes distinctively compared with the comparison group. The RPP rised with the extent of interference and the length of the time; however, the scopes of the increase vary among different breeds. The principle of variation of RPP demonstrated that the extent of injury by low-temperature interference was negatively relative to the cold-resistant nature of the breeds.3. On the initial stage of slight low-temperature stress, the activity of SOD (SUPEROXIDE DISMVLASE) in the leaves of Cineraria all rised at the beginning, then droped with the extension of time, eventually remained stable at the same level as those in the comparisongroup. This clarifies that certain low-temperature inducement could increase the activity of SOD, therefore increase the cold-resistant nature of the breed. The activity of SOD declined with the extent of stress and the length of the time. The activity of SOD of those with stronger cold-resistant nature declined less than those with weaker cold-resistant nature and the speed of the decrease proved to be slower. The percentage of the decrease of the activity of SOD was negatively relative to the cold-resistant nature of the breed; therefore it demonstrated the cold-resistant capabilities of different breeds. The cold-resistant nature of different breeds of Cineraria could be compared according to the activity of SOD.4. The amount of MDA(Malondialdehyde) in Cineraria showed a tendency of accumulation under the circumstance of low-temperature stress. On the initial stage of slight low-temperature stress, the amount of MDA keeped close to the same metabolism level as those in the comparison group, then it rised with the extension of the time. The amplitude of MDA remained between 30% to 40%. The amount of MDA accumulated extensively between 3 and 1 with the extent of stress and the amount at 1 was much greater than that of 3 . However, the amount of increase varied among different breeds. Thus, if the amount of MDA of certain breed increased extensively and started at the early stage, the cold-resistant nature of this breed was comparatively inferior.5. Under the circumstance of low-tem...
