With development of Society, people are increasingly pay attention to the improvement of environment that takes green plants as main body and begin to study the ecological function of green plants and its elaboratioa "Vegetation Quantity" advanced in recent years is a new concept in the theory of landscape greenery, which gives expression to deeply understanding of pant function. It suggests that urban greenery does not only aim at beautifying environment, moreover, its principal significance stresses on the improvement of ecological environment of city.This study took Syringa oblata Lindl., which is most widely used in landscape greenery in Harbin, as an object of study and stressed on the environmental characteristics of Harbin City. The characteristics of postures, crown form, branch appearance and the leaf shape of Syringa oblata were analyzed by practical measurement of individual plant Mathematic method and model were adopted to analyze the sample data and deeply explore the vegetation quantity of Syringa oblata in Harbin. A quantitative method was put forward for vegetation quantity of Syringa oblata distributed in Harbin and the information management system of vegetation quantity of Syringa oblata for Harbin has been established.The study on vegetation quantity of Syringa oblata distributed in Harbin is the first time to be carried out in Heilongjiang Province. This achievement has a high theoretical value. It gets rid of the deficiency of greenery coverage in expression of ecological function of green plants and integrates green plants with their ecological function and ecological benefits. The research method used in this study can be extended to "vegetation quantity" study of other shrub species. This study can also provide scientific data and reference for match planting of green plants in deferent areas as well as the exertion of ecological function. As one of the achievements of this study, the information management system of vegetation quantity of Syringa oblata for Harbin can help to quickly and accurately estimate the total amount of vegetation quantity of Syringa oblata in Harbin or a certain area.
