The experimental chickens of Xiaoshan, SR92A and their hybrid offspring in this research are taken from Jiangsu Poultry Science Institute. Raising, hybridization and slaughtering test are done from September in 2000 to January in 2001. Early production performance is determined about birth weight, weight at 28 days, weight at 49 days, weight at 75 days, dressing weight, semi-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight. In this research, OPAY02 is used as the primer in RAPD reaction. The primer has been screened in 2000. Every chicken in this experiment can get polymorphic bands after OPAY02 product electrophoresising in agarophyte gel. The relationship between OPAY02 marker and early production performance of SR92A chicken, Xiaoshan chicken and their hybrid chicken is detected by GLM. The purpose of this research is to verify OPAY02 marker's practicality and to find the genetic effect of different band. Finally, it is hoped to supply theory basis for marker-assisted selection.The results show as follows:(1) It is verified that 1660.8bp-band and 2326.0bp-band representing different site in genome DNA detected by OPAY02 in New Yangzhou chickenalso exist in Xiaoshan chicken SR92A chicken and their F] chicken.(2) OPAY02 can be used as the primer in different strain of chicken successfully. Different band type is corresponding different in the early growth. It is defined as A type if 1660.8bp-band and 2326.0bp-band appear at the same time; It is defined as B type if 1660.8bp band appear alone; It is defined as C type if 2326.0bp band appear alone; It is defined as D type if neither of them appear. This result about band effect on early production performance in Xiaoshan chicken is different from which in New Yangzhou chicken studied by Dai. Thus can be seen, there is real meaning to determine different strains of good native chicken in China.(3) After doing GLM analysis, one can see that two polymorphic bands combination has significant influence on early growth. Different band type corresponding to different body weight at 49 days in Xiaoshan chicken is significant. The result is significant on post hoc multiple comparisons of early production performance of different band type combination. The effect in descending order on body weight at 49 days and weight at 75 days of Xiaoshan chicken is A>C>B. But the result is not significant either in SR92A chicken or in hybrid chicken. But the effect of every band is not all the same as that in New Yangzhou chicken. It shows that this primer has different effect in different genetic group.All in all, this 10-bp arbitrary primer RAPD marker may be used in marker-assisted selection.
