High-efficient energy-conserving greenhouse sunlight technology has enriched the life style of residents in both the countryside and cities. With the reforming and opening of China to the world, the nation wide living standard is improving day by day. In prior years, Chinese people were poorly clothed and were ill-fed. They are now increasingly better fed, better dressed and healthier overall.Weather restrictions cause a short planting and growing season in the open fields of Daqing. The growing season for vegetables in the open fields is only 4 months (from the end of May to the end of September). Planting and growing vegetables in greenhouses lasts only 6 months. In summer the vegetable production is excessive; in the winter the vegetable production is deficient. In the deficient months more than 100 million (100,000,000) Kgs of fresh vegetables and fruits must be transported from South China to Daqing to meet the market demands of the city area.Improved technology has effectively increased vegetable production in the area and also improve the amount of fruit, livestock, and so on. From 2001 to 2002 the output of all kinds of fresh vegetables amounted to 153,328,900 Kg. The output of peaches was 1,374,370 Kg. The output of herbaceous plants was 3,500,000 stems. The output of potted flowers was 21,800 pots. Fungus output was 451,800 Kg. The production of American frogs amounted to 12,000Kg.Economic benefits are also evident. In the past two years the accumulative value of output has been 197,790,400 Yuan RMB. The accumulative economic benefit has been 114,019,100 Yuan RMB. The increase of economic benefits has been 21,709,100 Yuan RMB. Increasing economic benefits amounts to 2,455.78 Yuan per mu.The improved greenhouse technology has played an important role in improving plant growth methods. It has mitigated the difficulty of supply and demand in most situations and has significantly boosted peasant income. The creation and application of high-efficient energy conserving greenhouse sunlight technology has clearly revealed the potential of greenhouses in the Daqing region. It has developed the market and has clearly caused an increase of productivity and people's living standards.In the past two years 57 groups have visited Daqing from all over Heilongjiang Province and from other parts of China as well. These visitors altogether equal 30,000. They havecome to eagerly examine the improved greenhouse technology. Its application has been a good example of "The Vegetable Basket Project" for the province and for the nation.
