Based on reviewing on development status of hybrid japonica rice in China and on analyzing of developing trends of hybrid japonica rice in Zhejiang province as well as Zhuji city, adaptive performance of different combinations of hybrid japonica rice, mainly from Yongyou series under the environments in Zhuji, effects of seedling age, transplanting density on grain yield of transplanting rice, effects of sowing- date and rate on grain yield of directly-sowing rice were studied by using the advantage of the author's participation in the technical guidance for the application and extension of hybrid japonica rice. Meanwhile, the special experiments were conducted aiming at realizing higher yield. Moreover, the experience and patterns of agricultural extension were summarized and proposed. The results showed that the hybrid japonica rice combinations of Yongyou series had higher grain yield (increase by 6.62% to 12.98%) and good rice quality, compared with conventional japonica rice cultivars and were well adapted to the environments in Zhuji city. It was proved by the experiment for screening out the better combinations that Youngyou 1 and Yongyou 2 were suitably used for direct-sowing cultivation. For transplanting cultivation, the proper seedling age and transplanting density were 15 to 20 days old and 150,000 hills per hectare, respectively. For direct-sowing cultivation, the proper sowing-date should be early June and the sowing rate was 15 to 18.75 kg/ha for earlier sowing and 18.75 to 22.5kg/ha for late sowing provided all sowing dates are within the reasonable sowing period.Based on the results of experiments aiming at obtaining the maximum grain yield, the comprehensive managements of high yield production for transplanting hybrid japonica rice which is concentrated on raising stubble seedling with tillers, larger individuals, higher population quality and greater panicle, was proposed and the management system of high yield production for direct sowing hybrid japonica rice was put forward in which theemphases were placed on better nutrient management through heavy fertilization at early stage, less or little fertilizer application at middle and supplementing suitable fertilizers at late stage, and water management through shallow irrigation at early stage, slight drought at middle stage and alternative moisture and drying at late stage, based on timely sowing with a proper rate and high sowing quality.The planting of hybrid japonica rice was rapidly and widely increased in Zhuji and a higher economic efficiency was received by means of establishing safe rice production base and adopting the manner of industrialization management. Due to self-participation in the activities of application and extension of hybrid japonica rice, the new experiences beneficial for extension of other agricultural technology were summarized, the roles of agriculture industrialization management in agricultural technology extension were analyzed and the new ideas that may be helpful for searching for and establishing new model of agricultural technology extension was proposed.
