Based on the climatic data from 1961 to 2003 in Wuchuan County and the field experiments of 16 crops, potato sowing density and season during 2001 and 2003, the water comsumption, yield, quality and energy of the crops were analysied. Combined with the feed and energy comsumption of livestocks, the linear programming model of cropping structure adjustment was established. The results are:(1) Compared with that in 1960s, the temperature during the recent 10 years increased 1.1℃. The precipitation did not significantly change. The sunlight time increased 80.5 hours. These changes had some extent Impacts on crop production and enhanced water shortage.(2) The crops of pea, grass maize, oil sunflower, naked oat, benne, water consumed about 250mm. However, the black naked oat and film-covered maize used less water. Among the crops, oil sunflower contained highest oil. Potato and cole had highest protein. Potato and maize contained highest carbohydrates. The order of total energy output was grain, grass maize, oil sunflower and cole.(3) Potato was the most important crop in Wchuan County. The yield was affected by the density. The highest yield could be obtained at a sowing date of May-21, and the density 45000 plant/hm2.(4) Based on the integrated parameters, the proper cropping structure in Wchuan County should be 66.6% of grain crops, 6.8% oil crops and 26.6% forage crops. The total annual net income would be 352,372,000 yuan, increasing by 5,610,000 yuan compared with the present cropping structure.
